Swiss Discovery

Discover Switzerland from its lakes and historic cities to some of its most spectacular Alpine landscapes. This ten-day journey combines Geneva and Zurich with mountain experiences at Mont Blanc and Mt Titlis, the food traditions of Gruyères, the scenery of St. Moritz and Ticino, and memorable rail, cruise and cable car experiences along the way.

ITINERARY

Day 1 – Geneva
Arrive at Geneva Airport and transfer to your hotel before meeting your guide for a half-day tour of the city. Later, enjoy a cruise on Lake Geneva with views of the Jet d’Eau, Mont Blanc, the United Nations district, lakeside villas, parks and gardens. Overnight in the Geneva area.
After breakfast, travel across the French border to Chamonix for a full-day excursion beneath Mont Blanc. Ride the Aiguille du Midi cable car to 3,842 metres, where panoramic terraces offer spectacular views across the French, Swiss and Italian Alps and towards the summit of Mont Blanc. Return to the Geneva area for the night.
Spend the day exploring the Lake Geneva region, beginning with Lausanne and its Olympic Park, home to the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee. Continue to Montreux to visit historic Chillon Castle on the lakeshore, with an optional wine tasting available for adult groups, before an overnight stay in Lausanne.
Travel aboard the Chocolate Train towards Broc and visit Maison Cailler to discover how Swiss chocolate is made, complete with a tasting. Continue to medieval Gruyères and La Maison du Gruyère to learn about its famous cheese, before travelling to Bern for a short orientation tour of its UNESCO-listed Old Town and landmark clock tower. Continue to Lucerne for the night.
Travel to Engelberg and ascend Mt Titlis by cable car and the revolving Rotair, with access to attractions including the glacier, Ice Flyer, ice grotto and suspension bridge, weather permitting. Later, visit Lucerne to see Chapel Bridge, the Jesuit Church and Lion Monument before enjoying an evening cruise on Lake Lucerne. Overnight in the Engelberg area.
Leave Engelberg and journey through Switzerland’s dramatic Alpine scenery towards St. Moritz, travelling via Andermatt and the spectacular Furka Pass, one of the highest mountain passes in the Alps and a filming location from Goldfinger. Continue through landscapes of mountain peaks, valleys and clear Alpine lakes before arriving in St. Moritz.
Travel south towards Switzerland’s Italian-speaking Ticino region, where the scenery shifts from high Alpine landscapes to a distinctly Mediterranean feel. Visit the Verzasca Valley and its famous dam, known internationally for the bungee-jump sequence in GoldenEye, before continuing to Lugano for an overnight stay.
Spend the day exploring the Lugano region, beginning at Swiss Miniature, where more than 120 scale models recreate Switzerland’s landmarks, transport and landscapes. Later, take the funicular to Monte Brè for panoramic views over Lake Lugano before returning to the city for free time to shop, explore or relax by the lake. Overnight in Lugano.
After breakfast, travel north to Rhine Falls, the largest waterfall in Europe, before continuing to Zurich. Enjoy a city orientation tour featuring Bahnhofstrasse, the medieval Old Town, Limmatquai, St Peter’s Church, the historic guild houses, Opera House, Lake Zurich and Fraumünster. Overnight in the Zurich area.
After breakfast, check out of the hotel and take your private transfer to Zurich Airport for your return flight home.
