Travel from Italy to France on an eight-day journey through five European countries, combining historic cities, Alpine scenery and some of the continent’s best-known landmarks. Beginning in Rome, the route travels through Tuscany and northern Italy before continuing into Austria, Switzerland, Germany and France, finishing with the grand boulevards and riverside sights of Paris.

ITINERARY

Day 1 – Rome
Arrive in Rome and transfer into the city centre, where you’ll meet your guide for an afternoon tour of Baroque Rome. Discover highlights including the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, Campo de’ Fiori and the Pantheon before enjoying some free time and transferring to your hotel. Overnight in Rome.
After breakfast, visit Vatican City with your guide, including the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St Peter’s Basilica. Continue to the hilltop town of Frascati, known for its historic centre, views across Rome and local wine, before travelling to Tivoli to visit Hadrian’s Villa and the Renaissance Villa d’Este. Return to Rome for an overnight stay.
Travel north into Tuscany, stopping in Pisa to see the world-famous Leaning Tower before continuing to Florence. On arrival, explore the historic centre, including the Duomo, Giotto’s Bell Tower, Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio and Ponte Vecchio, with a visit to the renowned Uffizi Gallery. Overnight in Florence.
Leave Florence for Verona, where a guided walking tour takes in the Arena, Juliet’s courtyard, Romeo’s House, historic churches and medieval streets. After lunch, continue across the Alps to Innsbruck for an orientation tour featuring Maria-Theresien-Strasse and the famous Golden Roof. Overnight in Innsbruck.
Travel to Lucerne for an orientation tour of its picturesque medieval centre, including Chapel Bridge, the Lion Monument and Jesuit Church. Continue to Zurich, where sightseeing includes Fraumünster, Münsterplatz, Grossmünster and the famous Bahnhofstrasse before an overnight stay.
After breakfast, travel into Germany’s Black Forest region and visit Freiburg, a historic university city known for its cobbled old town and distinctive architecture. Stop at a traditional cuckoo clock factory before continuing across the border into France and on to Strasbourg for the night.
Begin the day with an orientation tour of Strasbourg, visiting highlights including Notre-Dame Cathedral, the UNESCO-listed Grande Île, Palais Rohan and the canals and covered bridges of Petite France. Continue to Paris, where the evening includes a Seine River cruise followed by an illuminated introduction to the city and the Eiffel Tower. Overnight in Paris.
After breakfast, check out and meet your local guide for a half-day tour of Paris, taking in the Champs-Élysées, Arc de Triomphe, Palais Garnier, Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Louvre. Enjoy some free time in the city before transferring to the airport for your departure flight.
